Summer is – finally! – here and Autoworld Museum is getting ready to host some great temporary exhibitions that will let visitors relive the automobile’s greatest moments!
From June 7 to 1 September 2013: “50 years of Lamborghini”
The brand with the bull is celebrating its 50th birthday. The museum couldn’t pass on this great opportunity to show off some of the prestigious models that stirred the passions of lovers of exceptional bodywork and extreme performance engines.
The 350GT, 400GT, Miura, Urraco, Countach, Gallardo, LM002, Espada…and more must-see Lambo’s will be on display for three months in the special area dedicated to temporary exhibitions at the end of Blue Boulevard.
Photographer Johan Vandenberghe will share his ideas about this mythical car through a selection of artistic photographs.
From July 19 to 1 September 2013: “Racing Memories”
50 years of passion and history at the Zolder track
Over 40 racing and touring cars, GTs and single-seaters, including the Porsche Carrera RSR, 911 SC RS, 911 R, 934, Ford Sierra Cosworth, Toyota Celica GT Gr.2, Lotus Elan, Subaru Impreza, Mini Cooper, Peugeot 806, Alpine, Renault, Lola, Opel and Rover will fill the Autoworld mezzanine during the summer to pay homage to 50 years of automotive passion.
Led by Paul Verellen, the brother of the late driver and journalist Philippe Verellen, many owners and private collectors agreed to loan their cars to re-create the atmosphere of the races of the past 50 years. Visitors will be able to admire three of the cars driven by the Antwerp-based driver: the BMW325i, the Audi 200 and the V8 Procar.
The exhibition will pay homage to these racing cars, the heroes of incredible shows on our national racetracks, and to the Zolder track itself, which is celebrating its 50th birthday, with a display that recalls the Limburg track’s greatest moments. The exhibition will also include photographs, scale models and other Automobilia.
From now through the end of the year, Autoworld will have a new show every month in the exhibition area created for this purpose, including “Panhard Story” (September), “e-Brussels” (September), “Mercedes-Benz Oldtimer Club – MB S-Class” (October) and “Belgian Vehicle Heritage – Minerva” (November), before setting up the final grand expo of the year on the mezzanine dedicated to “Ferdinand Porsche, The Heritage – from Electric to Electric” (6 December 2013 – 19 January 2014).
Autoworld is also…and especially…
In addition to its temporary exhibits, Autoworld Museum offers visitors a unique opportunity to discover both the history of the automobile, thanks to its permanent collection of over 250 collector cars which includes beautiful examples of Belgian vehicles like the Minerva, Imperia and FN, and the evolution of automobile design from its beginnings.
The Sport & Competition area on the first floor lets visitors relive the glorious years of motorsport in our country thanks to a realistic model with paddocks, a raised curve, a starting grid and… in a nod to our 7th Art, an area dedicated to Michel Vaillant, the greatest of all comic strip drivers.
